Mindful Mornings
What is a Mindful Morning?
A mindful morning is starting the day with awareness, calmness and focus. Having a mindful morning can lead to a positive and enormous impact on your day. The best thing about a mindful morning is that it takes from a few moments to two minutes to do.
How to Have a Mindful Morning?
Try to Wake Up Earlier
Waking up earlier can really impact your day. By waking up around thirty minutes earlier, you won’t have to rush your mornings. This sets the mood for the rest of the day, as you won’t feel rushed to finish your duties and activities. In addition, it also gives you some time in the morning before your work to relax and relieve some pressure on yourself. When I wake up earlier, it feels like I have everything in the world.
Start The Day With Being Grateful
When you wake up, start by thinking about everything nice that has happened to you and the people responsible for it. If you want, you can journal it to keep track of who you are grateful for. By being thankful, you will learn to look only at the positive side of your life and spend less time thinking about what you lack and the negative aspects of your life.
Calming The Body Down
When you wake up, try to devote five minutes of your time to relaxing the body. You can do this by stretching your body or even yoga. This energizes and eases tension in your body, which helps you get ready for the day. Furthermore, you can do controlled breathing, which is scientifically proven to calm and relax your body and reduce stress.
Be Hydrated
Even though you might not be used to it, drink a big cup of water in the morning. Remember, you did not drink water during the night, so you at least have water to kickstart your day. Water in the morning will refresh your body after the night, and your metabolism will be energized again. If your body needs it, you can even eat a fruit or vegetable to boost your vitamin levels in the morning.
Do Meditation or Be Mindful
A few minutes of Meditation or Mindfulness can have a large impact on your day. For beginners, you can try a guided meditation and focus on your breathing. Usually, a quiet space free from distractions works best. This helps you release your stress and anxiety, which can do wonders for your day. You can also just focus on calming yourself by directing your mind to the present moment. This can take only a few moments or, if you need to, two minutes.
Healthy Food or Junk Food
Healthy food or Junk Food for breakfast? Healthy food is the obvious choice. Food is fuel so get the best fuel you can. A healthy breakfast can really energize your day. But, that isn’t the only criteria. You need to pay attention while eating. You can't stare at the TV, phone and laptop. You must focus on the food in front of you and what is going in your mouth, the texture. Is it sweet sour bitter, SPICY. This is the art of eating mindfully, which supports both your physical and mental health. With this you will learn to appreciate the nourishment that is given to you.
Goodbye Phone, See You In The Afternoon!!
In this modern day the biggest distraction is our phones, tablets and other electronic devices. Most people are used to waking up and checking all their emails and their social media accounts to see if they have gained any followers, or if their favorite movie star posted a picture of himself on a Caribbean cruise. ERROR. This is a big distraction, in the morning you should focus on yourself and get ready for the day ahead of you. Being free of technology in the early morning can really calm you down and increase your happiness meter. Additionally it makes your environment much more productive, which brings me to my next point.
What’s Around You is Within You
One of the most important factors when it comes to being mindful is your environment. If you're surrounded by chaos then the chaos is within you. If you're surrounded by fear then fear is also within you. With this you can surround yourself with peace so the peace is within you.
